Does it smell like beef?
No. Properly rendered, grass-finished tallow is nearly odorless, and whipping it makes it lighter still. Birthday Suit is the true test: it smells like nothing.
Will it clog my pores?
Tallow's fatty-acid profile is close to your skin's own sebum, which is why it absorbs rather than sitting on top. Use a dime-sized amount, warm it first, and press it in. If you're acne-prone, start with a small patch at night.
How long does a 4 oz jar last?
Used on the body once or twice a day, most people get one to two months out of a jar — depends on how in love with soft skin you are, and how heavy-handed you get. Whipped tallow goes far because a little melts into a lot, which is more than you can say for most of what's in your skincare drawer.
What if it arrives soft, or firms up?
It's fat. Above about 90°F it softens, in a cold car it firms. Leave it at room temperature and it settles into a balm. Either way, it's fine. That's also why we hand-deliver instead of shipping.
