Does it smell like beef?
No. Properly rendered, grass-finished tallow is nearly odorless, and whipping it makes it lighter still. Birthday Suit is the true test: it smells like nothing.
Will it clog my pores?
Tallow's fatty-acid profile is close to your skin's own sebum, which is why it absorbs rather than sitting on top. Use a dime-sized amount, warm it first, and press it in. If you're acne-prone, start with a small patch at night.
How long does a 4 oz jar last?
Used on the face once or twice a day, most people get three to four months. Whipped tallow goes far because a little melts into a lot.
What if it arrives soft, or firms up?
It's fat. Above about 100°F it softens, in a cold car it firms. Either way, it's fine. Leave it at room temperature and it settles back to whipped. That's also why we hand-deliver instead of shipping.
